From the MCA President
It’s been a busy start to the year for the MCA. We recently met with Mayor Jones & Council Executive to talk about big issues affecting our town—things like road safety, strategic planning, local heritage sites, recreation facilities & the need for Murrumbateman to get infrastructure for a growing population. It was a productive meeting & we’ll keep pushing for outcomes for community benefit.

Our Annual General meeting is on Thursday 20th March at 7:30 pm at Murrumbateman School, we’d love to see you there! It’s a great chance to catch up on what’s happening, share your thoughts, & get involved. A new Executive Committee will be elected & subgroups reinvigorated for grant writing, special projects & history.
We also have developed a list of regional & local priorities for Murrumbateman to be used for lobbying local, State & Federal governments. Timely with a Federal election upon us soon and we plan on actively engaging with sitting and potential candidates. As part of that we had a very positive meeting with The Hon Michael McCormick on Friday the 14th to highlight both plans and issues for the town.
Our recent grant win for inclusive table settings, BBQs & shelters will see our project team installing them at the Recreation Grounds in the next couple of months. We look forward to hosting a community BBQ on completion.
Don’t forget to Visit the Murrumbateman Village Markets - they’re a brilliant way to support local businesses & connect with neighbours. MCA has a stall there, so swing by for a chat. Whether you’ve got questions, suggestions, or just want to say hi.
Some surprise events will happen this year, so keep in touch. Looking forward to seeing you soon - whether it’s at the meeting, the markets, or around town!
