Stay Safe This Winter with Springfield RFS
As the Fire Danger Period comes to a close, the Springfield Brigade reminds residents that fire safety doesn’t stop when the weather cools down. With many households using wood heaters, it’s important to stay vigilant.
Before lighting your first fire of the season, make sure your chimney is clean and free of creosote build-up. Burn only dry, seasoned wood to reduce smoke and soot, keep flammable items at a safe distance, and always dispose of ashes in a metal container. Don’t forget to test your smoke alarms—they save lives.
Winter is also a great time to get a head start on preparing your property for next summer. Clear debris, check your equipment, and make sure your emergency plan is up to date.
Save the Date
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 12 May at 7:00pm, at the Rex Connor Shed on Patemans Lane. All members are encouraged to attend. Nominations are open for all committee roles—we’d love to see some new faces step up and get involved.
Every Contribution Counts
Your donation, big or small, directly helps us stay equipped and ready to serve the community. Thank you for supporting your local volunteers - we’re here for you, and with your help, we’ll be even better prepared.
